I think a darn good way to find out more about a person is to look through his/her smartphone. My home screen says that I hate clutter. And prefer the natural over the man made. The no-sound, no-vibration setting hints that I don't like (or cannot cope well with) distractions. See the battery-saving icon? I guess I'm quite an environmentalist. Yep I need the dictionary cos when I think about what someone writes, I want to be able to define all those big words. The requisite camera apps.. Two file organizers for convenience. Faith Comes By Hearing is the organisation that develops audio bibles in the many native tongues of the peoples all over the world. It's not that I don't want a cute calendar; I cannot find a cute calendar widget that doesn't need Internet connection. Voice recorder to record how I sound when practicing on the guitar.  The Guitar chords app is really useful! Motivates me to practice cos at least I can sing and play the easi...

So many stereotypes behind this right. About to start my last 4 (or 5?) years of studying before I enter the workforce to earn my bread. Really want to make things work. Not just the As but also to find a place in God's kingdom, to make lasting friendships, to reach out to people, to make a difference. There are times when I feel like I absolutely suck at everything. Then there are times when I feel so good about myself. Hope to find the in-between, and be comfortable with it. I am probably not a charismatic leader, I am an (extroverted) introvert, I have yet to be able to think fast. I am still grappling with guitar (suspect that my cheap guitar is tripping me), I cannot survive without sleep, I don't take distractions/disturbances well. In the meantime.. I can think about deep issues. I am becoming comfortable with uncertainty, I can see the complexities of many things. I guess this helps me to empathize with people. I am quite a decent baker (nothing to shout about b...

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

This is possibly the first book that really made me go 'wow'. Like there is just that silence after I read the last word of this simply worded 'fable', according to the author. I stumbled upon this book at one of the second hand bookshops in Bras Basah Complex, which explains the cheap price tag. It speaks of children that possess that childlike innocence and goodness, at the same time as it speaks of the quiet confused sadness of a child. So many times I've wished I were more childlike, in faith, in thoughts and in actions. (Note how it distinguishes from being childish, which I hate to be) And I've never read a blurb like that one behind this book. If I haven't had some idea of what this story is from what I read about the movie based on the book, I guess I would still be drawn by it. I would never have guessed the ending too. Devoured it in one go; this book really punches above its weight. (Gah I make a bad book reviewer)

some of the lil' stuff in my seemingly mundane life

I've got a fringe. It keeps poking into my eyes. So today, since I was in a not-so-fab mood, I took the scissors and went in front of the mirror and started hacking. Literally. Cos the scissors was rusted so I had to hack at my hair. Anyway, now this reminds me of Britney. Women like to cut their hair when they are down. Its a fact, you know? This is one of the few notable things in my life right now. Do I sound like I'm complaining? Hmm , okay this isn't the ideal life that I want to have but I understand I will grow to appreciate this (bloody) system in the future. It would be nirvana if I get to experiment in the kitchen right now, but I know this is Mum's territory, and that I will appreciate and adore my kitchen when I get my own next time. Like how Mum fanatically cleans the kitchen up after cooking everyday AFTER WORK. Mums have a huge reserve of power I tell you. Love ya Mum and Dad! Though I'm keeping this tiny little space on the Internet a secret for ...
